If you have never had a Cuban Sandwich before, now is the time to try it. I had always been skeptical of this kind of sandwich just because it didn't excite me.
I figured Cuban sandwiches would taste okay but nothing special. However, I was so wrong. This sandwich is so delicious, complex, and decadent.
Let me tell you, this sandwich is buttery! Of course you can cut it back a little bit, but I think it's an absolute necessity to achieve the beautiful browning on the outside, the deep flavor, and I also just love butter.
Our Pan de Agua (Caribbean Water Bread) is the perfect choice for this amazing sandwich.
Ingredients:
- 2 Slices Pan de Agua or bread of choice
- Butter
- 2-3 Sliced Ham
- 2-3 slices Sliced or shredded pork roast
- 1-2 slices Swiss Cheese
- Dill Pickle Slices
- Dijon Mustard
Directions:
Melt butter in a skillet or on a griddle over medium low heat. While butter is melting, assemble the sandwich. Liberally spread mustard on each slice of bread. Add ham, pork, pickles and cheese. Top with the other slice of bread, and place the sandwich on the heated griddle. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until crispy and golden brown. Serve hot.
