10 Ways to Make a Meal with Focaccia

Dennis Weaver Dennis Weaver Jun 05, 2024

Focaccia is easy to make even if you've never made bread before!

Just press the dough into a pizza pan or baking sheet and let it rise once--no second rising and no loaves to form. It bakes in 15 minutes.

Serve it with marina or roasted garlic and oil. Or get creative and make it into a meal.

5 Ways to Top Focaccia

Focaccia is tasty all on its own or dipped into a garlic dip or marinara, but topping it can turn it into a full meal. Think of it almost like a pizza but lighter‚ you can add any toppings you can think of and it will surely still taste great. Simply prepare the focaccia dough as usual and place the toppings before baking. Here are some of our favorites.

Garlic Roasted Pepper and Mozzarella Focaccia

This is my new favorite focaccia. It's so colorful and attractive and tastes even better. The mozzarella melts into pure white blotches against a colorful background. The Italian herbs and garlic are reminiscent of an authentic country pizza. Add a salad and you have a meal.

Garlic and Tomato Focaccia

This Italian-inspired focaccia topping goes best with our Italian Herb and Garlic Focaccia mix. Thinly sliced tomatoes drizzled with an herb and oil mixture and a touch of basil turn this focaccia into a great meal, but sprinkling the focaccia with parmesan just before it finishes baking really ties it all together.

Spinach and Garlic Focaccia

This lighter focaccia topping goes well with our Tuscany Tomato and Herb Focaccia mix. To turn your focaccia into a meal, simply spread a thin layer of fresh spinach over the dough and top it with minced garlic and an herb and oil mixture before putting it into the oven. Once again, a sprinkle of parmesan cheese just before the focaccia finished baking goes well with this focaccia meal but is not entirely necessary.

New Potato and Onion Focaccia

This topping makes for a real hearty focaccia meal with the onions and potatoes. It goes well with our Rosemary Focaccia mix. Top your focaccia dough with thinly sliced red potatoes and onions in a thin layer and top it with an herb and oil mixture along with a sprinkle of rosemary just before baking.

Focaccia Pugliese

This savory focaccia meal is a common favorite from the Puglia region of Italy. It can be topped with either kalamata olives or black olives and cherry tomatoes. Finish it off with a drizzle of an herb and oil mixture and pop it into the oven for a simple yet tasty meal. (See the image at the top)

5 Ways to Make Focaccia Sandwiches

Another fun way to turn your focaccia into a meal is by using the focaccia bread to make a sandwich. Prepare your focaccia as normal, slice it up, and then pair it with your favorite meats and cheeses to make a focaccia sandwich. Here are our favorites.

Chicken Florentine Focaccia Sandwich

Chicken marinated in Italian dressing paired with spinach, bell pepper, and provolone between two slices of your choice of focaccia makes for one tasty sandwich.

Chicken Salad Focaccia Sandwich

This focaccia sandwich takes your typical chicken salad and turns it into an Italian delight when paired with Italian Herb and Garlic Focaccia bread.

Deli Party Focaccia Sandwich

This one is just a basic focaccia sandwich. Take your favorite deli meats and cheeses and put them between slices of focaccia bread. Simple but tasty.

Fully Loaded Focaccia Sandwich

For this focaccia sandwich, it's best to keep the sandwich fixings light, though you can add whatever meats, veggies, and cheeses you like. Simply choose from any of the topped focaccia above, invert the slices so the toppings are inside the sandwich, and finish it with a slice of deli meat. Or make it an open-faced sandwich and keep the topped side facing out.

Focaccia Breakfast Sandwich

You've never had the best breakfast sandwich until you try one with focaccia. Eggs, bacon, sausage, or whatever you like between two focaccia slices makes for one delicious breakfast.
