Western Cracked Wheat Cereal--large 2 lb
An excellent substitute for Zoom, Cream of Wheat, and Ralston Hot Cereal. Great for breads and muffins, too.
This makes terrific breakfast cereal!
This will take you back to your grandmother's kitchen--a replacement for the Zoom, Cream of Wheat, or Ralston cereal she used to make. Cook it plain or fancy it up with raisins, cranberries, pineapple, or more. It's a healthy breakfast to get your family going.
It's also great for breads and muffins.
This is the best cracked wheat we have found for baking. It's what we use in our bread mixes. It's a finer grind than most, and so it cooks up softer.
These instructions are courtesy of Robert Berger.

For Making Bread and Muffins
- Add this to your favorite bread recipe. Simply substitute this cracked cereal for part of the flour. (We use one to 1/3 cup of cereal per loaf.) It is an excellent addition to your favorite muffin recipes.
For Breakfast Cereal
- For hot cereal, use 1 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup cracked wheat (1/4 tsp salt if desired).
- Bring the water to a boil.
- Add the cracked wheat to the boiling water.
- Bring the water back to a boil.
- Reduce to low and simmer for about 20 minutes.
You can store leftover cooked cereal in the refrigerator. Uncooked cereal can be stored in the pantry as long as it is dry and cool.

Decided to purchase because I missed Ralston. Product is OK, raises my blood sugar unsatisfactorily. That is all.
wouldnt put it in my bird feeder
Why is it so hard to fid good nutritional food in a supermarket? Thanks to Prepared Pantry for having this quality product.
My mom used to fix this for breakfast a couple times a month, 50 years ago. So there's a lot of memories with it. And boy,,, even more memories came up when I made some for my family a couple of weeks ago. This stuff is pretty good!! I'll continue to buy it.
Close to original Zoom that I've found. Tho have to cook long time. I use my rice cooker. Comes out great on porridge setting.. Wish it was "flaked" like Zoom to cook in microwave, but that's ok. Shipping is very high so for an $5 pkg plus almost $10 shipping makes for an expensive cereal. So, will use sparingly so don't have to order to often. But, like the product.
