Western Cracked Wheat Cereal--large 2 lb
This is a great substitute for Zoom and Ralston Hot Cereal. Great for breads and muffins, too.

This will take you back to your grandmother's kitchen--a replacement for the Zoom, Cream of Wheat, or Ralston cereal she used to make. Cook it plain or fancy it up with raisins, cranberries, pineapple, or more. It's a healthy breakfast to get your family going.
It's also great for breads and muffins.
This is the best cracked wheat we have found for baking. It's what we use in our bread mixes. It's a finer grind than most, and so it cooks up softer.

For Making Bread and Muffins
- Add this to your favorite bread recipe. Simply substitute this cracked cereal for part of the flour. (We use one to 1/3 cup of cereal per loaf.) It is an excellent addition to your favorite muffin recipes.
For Breakfast Cereal
- For hot cereal, use 1 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup cracked wheat (1/4 tsp salt if desired).
- Bring the water to a boil.
- Add the cracked wheat to the boiling water.
- Bring the water back to a boil.
- Reduce to low and simmer for about 20 minutes.
You can store leftover cooked cereal in the refrigerator. Uncooked cereal can be stored in the pantry as long as it is dry and cool.

We use this in making our bread and also as hot cereal. Works great in both. If using in bread take a cup of cracked wheat and add warm water just until cracked wheat is covered let sit for about half hour before folding into bread mix.
For hot cereal us 1/2 cup water and 1 1/2 cup cracked wheat(1/4 tsp salt if desired). Add cracked to boiling water bring back to boil the reduced to low and simmer about 20 minutes.
Used to use Krusteaz Zoom but hard to find and the Western Crack Wheat is seams to have better flavor and consistency than Zoom.

I was searching for a hot cereal that would come close to Ralston Hot Cereal, which is no longer available. I have eat it as a kid forever and tried 5 others that didn’t come close. Western Cracked Wheat is sooo close that I don’t miss Ralston now. Other cracked wheat contains other grains, but this is 100% cracked wheat. I liked it so much I ordered 2 more. Don’t stop handling it. Oh ! the shipping was quick too and as well as updates !!!
I made a loaf of cracked wheat bread with this and it was absolutely superb. A half hour soak in boiling water softened this cracked wheat perfectly, and I brushed the stop with an egg wash before scoring it and dusted some more cracked wheat on top for a little crunch. The bread was chewy and moist, but not dense and heavy. It raised well and made a beautiful loaf.
I have used this product to make cracked wheat bread for many years and have never been disappointed. The taste, texture, and color are always the same and always great; other brands of cracked wheat do not come close.
