Sour Cream Potato Rolls
Make fabulous dinner rolls, hamburger buns, and sandwich rolls.
These are pioneer rolls. The recipe has been in our family for over 50 years.
My mother used to make them with potato water, but now we put the potatoes right in the mix. The potatoes make them soft, light, and airy with just a touch of rustic flavor.
These make wonderful dinner rolls, and they're easy to make.
- Are these really that good? They're fabulous, my favorite holiday dinner rolls. As of this date, they have 29 reviews--28 five-star and one four. (The four-star, she's taking the mix to Arizona, and so hasn't made them yet.)
- Are these grown-up rolls, or will my kids like them? They will love them. Kids love soft, white bread.
- Can I make hamburger buns with this mix? Yep. It will make 12 large dinner rolls or eight hamburger buns. Bake them on a 9 x 13-inch pan. One customer made four burger buns and six dinner rolls--baked them all at once on the same pan.
- I love the smell of homemade bread baking. What about these? Ah, you'll love them. Remember when your grandmother baked bread? It's the same warm smell.
- What else does it taste like? They're buttery and soft--the perfect rolls.
- Are they hard to make? No, they're easy with either a bread machine or a stand-type mixer.
- How early do I need to start them? You could make them the day before, and they'll be fresher than those from the store. You'll need to mix the dough--you can use the dough cycle on your bread machine for that. It will take you 15 to 20 minutes to form your rolls and an hour to rise. But give yourself an extra hour or so for interruptions and doorbells--life happens and you don't rush bread. These are worth it.

This was the first product I've made from Prepared Pantry and I am extremely impressed! I made the dough in the bread machine and did the second proof (as rolls) in a 9" springform pan. They stayed fresh for 3 days, no problem at all. The flavor was great as was the texture. We LOVED the rolls and I've already placed another order!

These rolls are an all time favorite! The sour cream makes them creamy with a tiny tang. Tasty with any dinner or breakfast with jam!
