Cinnamon Bun Monkey Bread Mix
"The most scrumptious concoction on the planet!"
This is our fun mix, our most fun mix.
When you read the reviews, you see how much fun they're having. They're sharing this with friends, neighbors, and family, and everyone has a good time.
It's fun to make, it's fun to share, and it's fun to make.
And it really is the most scrumptious concoction on the planet. It's donut holes coated with a buttery, caramelly cinnamon sugar coating that melts in baking into a thick, gooey coating.
No wonder people love this!
What you need to know about monkey bread
- Is it really made with donut dough? Yep, it's the real thing. It's that original old-time, raised, glazed "Spudnut" donut dough. You could make raised donuts with this if you wanted.
- How do you make the donut holes? You can do it any way you want. I just pat the dough out and score it into a checkerboard. Then, roll the dough into balls in your hands, just like you would if you were making snickerdoodles. One lady uses a cookie cutter.
- Do the holes need to be the same size? Nope. There are no rules; just have a good time.
- Speaking of snickerdoodles, mine are covered in cinnamon and sugar crystals. This looks more like a thick syrup. What's the difference? The butter. Butter and sugar make caramel. This has cinnamon added.
- It seems like it would be hard to get it just right. You wouldn't want to cook your caramelly mixture until the coating is like hard candy. You won't. The candy coating is dependent on temperature, not time. So if you cook it like bread dough, it's perfect.
- How do I tell when it's done? The package gives a baking time, but ovens differ. It will firm up when it's done. The best way to check it is with a probe-type kitchen thermometer. The interior should be 190 degrees.
- What if I don't have a bundt pan? Use another pan, just make it a larger pan. You don't want to stack the donut holes over about four-inches deep, --it will take too long for the heat to soak through a tall stack.
- What do I do with leftovers? What leftovers? I've never heard of anyone having leftovers. You could cover it with plastic sheeting and then warm it in the microwave to reresh it.
You're going to have an impressive pull-apart loaf. Your family is going to want another--not just one party. Get an extra. It has a six-month shelf life, and you can always have another good time.

A restaurant we know piles warm donut holes on individual dessert plates, adds a couple of scoops of ice cream, and then drizzles warm caramel over the dessert.
You'll love it because it's simple to make, simple, down-home goodness.
Cinnamon Bun Monkey Bread is fun to make, and a joy to eat. I can think of no way to improve the baking experience or the feasting at the table. Everyone ate more than they expected. Bernard Bangley

Making personal-size monkey bread
Usually, monkey bread is made in a large bundt pan but they don't have to be. They can be made in a jumbo muffin pan or other large pan.
