Pioneer Valley Gourmet Strawberry Rhubarb Jam

• What does this jam taste like? Well, it's a mixture of strawberry and rhubarb, of course—pure fruit. The tart rhubarb is tempered by the sweetness of the strawberries, giving it more flavor than strawberry alone. It tastes like Marie Calandar's strawberry rhubarb pie.
  
• How tart is it? It's quite a bit tarter than strawberry, more tart than you would expect a 50/50 blend.  I like it a lot, but then, I like a tart.  The flavor jumps out.
• What's the texture like? The pectin holds it together, it spreads smoothly and it's not drippy. You can get an even, smooth layer on your toast.
• Are there chunks in it? No, it's smooth and soft--easy to spread.  
• What about the color? It's not as bright as strawberry. The rhubarb shows through. It's an even red-orange.
• Doesn't it cost more? It does, a little. But it's worth it. It's better, it tastes better. And because it goes on smoothly, you'll get more yield.
• What does it have in it, rather than fruit? Sugar, pectin, and a little vitamin C. There is no high-fructose corn syrup, which masks the flavor of the fruit.

This is a classy, elegant jam. It's not a grocery store jam.  It's a "cut above".  Without the chunks and lumps, it's easy to get a smooth, even spread.
